You can achieve easy weight loss in just three days with the 3 day Cardiac Diet. Some call it The Birmingham Hospital Diet. It was supposedly designed in that clinic to help patients lose weight quickly before undergoing heart surgery.

This diet is quite similar to the popular Mayo Clinic or Grapefruit Diet also the Cleveland Clinic Diet. All these diets are variations on a theme of high protein low carb meal plans. The purpose of all these diets is to enable a person to lose as much weight as possible in three days.

The namesake hospitals clinics have not publicly endorsed these 3 day diets but they have been used for many years by many people who attest they do work.

The 3 Day cardiac diet limits calories by using a high protein high fiber low carbohydrate meal plan. On the three days you are on the program you will be eating mostly vegetables lean meat. It is still quite nutritious actually except for the elimination of carbohydrates from foods like bread rice.

But it crucial that you do not stay on this limited calorie intake diet longer than the alloted 3 days. Otherwise you risk certain undesirable effects on your health including slowing down your metabolism in the long run.

Breakfast on this diet calls for a lot of protein some fats. your usual morning meal will be about half a cup of water packed tuna or cottage cheese. This will be added on two eggs that you can cook anyway you like just don't include more cheese or dairy.

The protein fat combination is recommended for the first meal of the day to keep hunger carbohydrate cravings at bay throughout the day. Do not skip breakfast make sure you eat up. You can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea but no sweeteners or dairy products should be added.

Lunch will be a mixture of tuna salad. On the first two days you may have a half a cup of water packed tuna a generous serving of salad. Keep in mind though that the salad must be all vegetables no cheese or croutons. Make sure to use olive oil as your dressing you can indulge a bit with the olive oil since you need the good fats for proper metabolism. On the third day you may increase your protein in the form of tuna to a full cup.

Dinner on the 3 day cardiac diet will consist of your preferred kind of lean meat. But skip adding sauce or breading. You need to eat this with two different types of vegetables steamed without sauce. You are however encouraged to use some butter for flavoring.

Carbohydrates are a no no. Starchy foods like bread pasta or potatoes are not allowed on the 3 Day Cardiac Diet. This is crucial reason behind the easy weight loss achieved in the meal plan.

Hydration is important in this diet. Drink at least 64 ounces of water everyday. That's the minimum. Follow the program to the letter you will see the pounds drop off.

It is only 3 days so might as well stick to it. When you get those pounds off it will only stay away if you start eating healthy for the long term. Combined with exercise you will lose weight for good.
